Last night marked the 2013 BAFTA Awards held at London’s Royal Opera House. The BAFTA’s are a chance for the bevy of nominated actresses to warm up their fashion fingers before heading to the Oscar’s later this month. Here’s a pick of my 4 favourite dresses from the night:
French actress, Marion Cotillard wore a stunning canary yellow Christian Dior gown which featured a cheeky cut out panel. This vibrant colour looked stunning on Marion and ensured that all eyes were on her throughout the night. Miss Cotillard is currently designing her own handbag for the fashion house’s Lady Dior handbag line, of which she is the face. Unfortunately Marion lost out on the Best Leading Actress BAFTA for her part in Rust and Bone but will definitely be picking up a style award for this faultless outfit.
Marion wasn’t the only one wearing colour on the night, American actress Jessica Chastain also braved the cold weather in an electric blue Roland Mourant dress with diamond and sapphire Harry Winston jewels (swoon!) both of which perfectly complemented her auburn hair and her enviable milky white complexion. Jessica’s stand out performance in 2012’s military thriller Zero Dark Thirty has earned her BAFTA and Oscar nominations for Best Leading Actress. Fingers crossed for the Oscars, Jessica!
English actress, Juno Temple, showcased one of my favourite British designers, Stella McCartney by wearing one of her amazing gowns with a vintage clutch. This monochromed halterneck gown was a winner of the night and so was Juno, who bagged the EE Rising Star award on the night, which is voted for by the public! Congrats!
Anne Hathaway is one of my favourite people of all time (Princess Diaries anyone?) and looked simply stunning in this Burberry gown with a studded bodice which she wore while picking up the BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress for her part in Les Miserables – bravo! Hathaway was flying the flag for British designers last night as she also carried an Anya Hindmarch clutch to complete her outfit. Hathaway is a mainstay on best dressed lists, so I predict she will be one to watch for the upcoming Oscars later this month!
Congratulations to all the winners and nominee’s!
